This photo is one of my all-time favorites. It was taken the day after Emily was born... well actually the day she was born, since she didn't actually make her appearance until the wee hours of the morning.

Yvonne was sitting in the hospital room near the window. The light was just right, and I must've wiggled the camera just a little bit when I snapped the picture -- it's just slightly out of focus. I have no idea what I did, nor could I do it again.

I think this photo captures the beauty of the mother & child relationship in a wonderful way. Yvonne, a new mother, just through with a long, difficult labor, finally gets to enjoy her newborn daughter. The tenderness and the love are right there.
